Trinity - Defying Destiny Read online

He grinned at me, his teeth white and wolfie. A few weeks ago, it would have scared the shit out of me, but today it had my body excited and curious.

My body still stiff in his arms, his smile slowly dropped and then he sighed. “Christ Trinity, you need to have a look at yourself,” he smirked. “I am only a male after all. I can’t help but think inappropriate thoughts.” He pursed his lips, put his hand up to my bare collarbone, and ran his index finger slowly down to the edge of the towel raising goose bumps along my skin as he went. His finger stopped at the edge of the towel, “Especially when I know I can just stick my finger under this towel and give it a flick and it will drop to the floor.”

My breathing started to grow heavy again. I wanted him to. My body screamed for him to, but my mind was telling me no, be responsible. Why? I protested to myself. I am 18, an adult, why can’t I do adult things.

  Jason laughed, “Stop that.”

  “Stop what?” I asked grinning.

“Arguing with yourself and tempting me further,” he said with his sexy smirk.

“I can’t help it. You bring out the best and worst in me,” I told him and took a step back out of his arms and reach.

He looked me up and down, finally resting on my eyes.

“Temptation at its worst, you standing there wet, hair dripping and only a mere towel for protection. Next time you won’t be so lucky,” he winked turning towards the door.

“Next time, there may be no towel standing in your way,” I smirked.

He stopped as his hand was stretched out to the door handle. His head went up as if he was looking at the roof and then he sighed. “Like I said, you’re killing me,” he growled.

I concentrated on him and him alone and then thought of what we wanted. Wrapped in nothing but sheets on an overcast day. Lips pressed to his skin, his hands exploring my body, me gasping.

“Trinity!” his growl grew fierce and he turned his head to glance at me, “If you do that again, the towel will not be able to save you,” his smile was ravishing, but the hunger in his eyes had me thinking more.

He shook his head and closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. “I came to tell you we will be leaving soon. But if you keep that up I will be sending you to your room where we will stay till this whole thing blows over,” smirking at me one more time, he opened the door, walked out and closed it behind him.

I took in a deep breath and sagged back a bit; stepping to make sure, I didn’t fall. I just shook my head, trying to clear it, but those piercing eyes that bore straight through my soul and wanted me completely had made most of my rational thinking run away and hide when I needed it most. I knew Jason wanted me and I desperately wanted him no matter how scared I was. However, it just seemed like there was too much going on to be able to enjoy it. I wanted it to be special or at least have no complications floating around. I didn’t want anyone to be in danger while I made love to the man of any girl’s dreams. I wanted to consume my mind and soul with nothing but him and not share it with anything or anyone else. I really hoped that time would be soon because I wasn’t sure how much longer I could hold out.

  Chapter Thirty-Four

I gathered myself and pushed all thoughts of Jason aside as I dried my hair and got ready. I had to go feed. I was also planning to drink another blood bag before I went out so that maybe I wouldn’t drain anyone dry. Mind you, a normal person holds about 4.5 litres; I still had no idea how I managed to drink that much last time.

I looked back to the mirror. Nice red loose dress singlet, jeans, my boots, my hair up just in case and a touch of makeup. I smiled at myself. In spite of everything, I was happy. I loved my newfound family, friends and boyfriend. I looked down at my hand to the ring and bracelet. Priceless.

I sucked in a deep breath and walked out of the bathroom.

“Sab?” I said in shock as he was standing near the door. I had been so busy preoccupying myself that I blocked everything out and didn’t even hear any of them talk.

“Trinity,” he said walking over, grabbing my hand and giving it a squeeze. I wanted to pull away. Not from being repulsed, but from the shock of electricity that felt like it was coursing through my blood.

“You look lovely,” he added with a kind smile.

Thinking back to Marie I could see the family resemblance with the wavy brown hair and brown eyes, but Sab’s were so much kinder, gentler in his looks with an overall sense of caring and air about him.

I smiled at him looking at Nikkee and Sky standing next to him. Nikkee looked nervous, but cute in her outfit, jeans and a shirt. Sky was in a dress with her Doc Martins on. My eyes kept wandering looking past Lachlan until I found Jason leaning against the far wall with a smug look on his face. I caught his wolf eyes and he winked, making my cheeks start to feel hot. I knew what he was thinking even though I couldn’t read his mind.

“Well are we going to do this or what?” I said and walked over to the fridge and pulled out a blood bag like it was a can of coke.

“Why are you having a bag when we are going to feed now?” Nikkee asked with a slight frown.

I finished squeezing it into a glass, took a large mouthful and said. “Just trying to help curb the hunger so I don’t kill anyone,” taking another mouth full.

“Good idea,” Nikkee said coming over to grab her own bag and glass.

“Nikkee, you were fine with your first feed,” Lachlan pointed out.

“So was Trinity,” she said, her face dropping as she looked at me.

I tipped the glass up swallowing the last of the blood, set it on the bench and waved a hand in dismissal. “Don’t worry about it, I know what you mean,” I said. I turned the tap on, stuck my head down, filled my mouth with some water, rinsed and then spat it out cleaning all the left over blood out.

“I…” Nikkee went to say something but stopped.

I opened myself up and I could feel how bad she felt at saying it.

“Its fine Nikkee, really,” I said smiling, then I walked over, put my arm around her shoulder and said, “Let’s go chew on someone’s face. What else is there to do on a Saturday night?”

We left the hotel room all laughing, but deep down I had a feeling that the night would not end that way.

The street below was busy just as they were when we were last here. We weaved our way through some crowds so that we could walk as a group until we had to weave our way past people again. We got smiles from some people, and frowns from some girls, as they looked us up and down.

Jason’s hand was holding my own tight, every time a guy would look at me he would squeeze a bit harder and go a bit tense. I smiled to myself; it was good to know he felt the same as me when a girl would look at him. In a way, I didn’t mind, he was hot.

“Let’s go in here,” Lachlan said, pointing to a club entrance.

We all gave a nod and the lump in my throat grew thicker.

We walked through a dark hallway until we entered a place made for Sky. The gothic dark atmosphere was daunting. Strobe lights flashed across morbid dressing attire, people with thick mascara under their eyes just like Sky, black hair mostly. Some were wearing long black coats, some a bit of colour like Sky was.

“This is awesome,” Sky said next to me.

“Let’s get this done. Sky, Jason and Sab, you go over by the bar and keep a look out. Nikkee and Trinity, you come with me over to that table by the far corner,” Lachlan said in a rush giving us all orders.

“No, I will stay with Trinity,” Jason snapped.

Lachlan turned and glared at him. “No, you will only make it harder for her to seduce someone,” he snapped back.

It was easy to hear their voices clearly over the death music that filled the whole club.

“Absolutely not. I am going with her, she won’t be seducing anyone,” Jason protested.

Lachlan sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, clearly trying to find some calm self-control. “Look, this is no time to go all protective, wolf. She nee
ds to seduce someone and she can’t have her wolf boyfriend hovering over her while she does it.”

“Who am I seducing?” I asked with a slight frown.

“Nobody and neither is my sister,” Jason pressed his eyes blazing in the darkness.

“Do you want them to starve or worse, kill someone because the hunger has taken over?” Lachlan said in a calm tone.

He looked from me to Nikkee and then sighed. He bent down slightly, put his hand on the small of my back and drew me closer to him, our bodies pressed together like a mould. His lips were on mine fast with the need to kiss me like it was going to be the last time. He drew back just as fast and then walked off towards the bar.

“Good luck,” Sab said as he followed.

“You are going to make some Goths dream come true,” Sky said smirking and followed behind Sab.

  “Now what?” Nikkee asked.

“We go over to that far table, in the back, with two males and the female. None of them are partnered; you can tell by the way that they sit too far apart. You just follow what I do and put your magic girl moves into action,” he told us starting to walk towards the table he pointed at.

“Girl moves?” I said in the way of question. Nikkee shrugged, she didn’t have a clue either.

“Just be charming and alluring,” he added a bit frustrated.

I looked back at Jason. He was sitting on a stool with his back against the bar with both elbows resting on it. He gave me a small smile; it just made me grow more anxious knowing he didn’t approve, but I wouldn’t really approve if it was him doing it and in fact, I hadn’t with Chelsi.

I looked back and kept walking. I had to do this, otherwise I may just die.

Lachlan stopped at the table and looked to the three sitting there. Their dead looking gaze looked up to him and then switched to Nikkee and me.

The girl in the middle was slightly plump, black long wavy hair with a big pink chuck in it at the front. The two guys had shoulder length hair that was also black, but looked more as if it had car grease through it.

“Night of the living dead huh?” Lachlan said.

The male on my side raised his left eyebrow.

“Do you mind if we feed on you?” Lachlan asked.

“Piss off man, go find a club more fitting to what you like,” the guy in front of Nikkee said giving Lachlan a scornful look.

“Everything I need is right here,” he flashed his fangs.

He looked to Nikkee and me to do the same.

“What the…” the girl went to say, but couldn’t finish.

“We need to feed, do you mind?” Lachlan asked again.

All three looked to one another and then gave a nod.

I frowned. It is that easy?

Lachlan gave us a nod for us to proceed. I took a step forward and the guy leaned back. He couldn’t get far as his back hit the wall.

I reached a hand out, “I’m not going to hurt you.”

The lump in my throat felt like it was going to choke me but my mouth was watering at the thought of fresh blood. I closed my eyes and sniffed in his scent listening to his quick pulse. I glanced at Nikkee; she was already feeding on the male that was in front of her. Latched onto his neck, while her hands just touched him.

Lachlan pulled off the girl’s neck and looked at me. He wiped his mouth as a small trail of blood ran slightly down the corner of his mouth.

He motioned his hand for me to proceed. I looked back to the bar, Jason still watching, eyes greener than ever. I swallowed past the lump and took another step forward.

“May I?” I asked and reached out, grabbing his wrist. I flashed a smile seeing him tense as my eyes grew bright, then he relaxed and smiled giving me a nod.

I held his hand gently and moved it up to my mouth slowly so I didn’t spook him, or me. My stomach was full of butterflies, but my hunger was stronger and in a flash, I bit down on his wrist.

My teeth punctured his veins, letting his blood flow into my mouth. I sucked in hard feeling his body stiffen and a breath being sucked in with every pull.

I closed my eyes and savoured the blood, feeling it run down the back of my throat and into the pit of my stomach. I wanted more; I wanted to be full like when I fed off that guy in Paro. My eyes snapped open and I unclenched my teeth as the shock of my thoughts brought me back down to reality. I looked to my blood donation and smiled.

  “Thank you,” I said.

  He gave a weak smile.

I looked back at his wrist at the two small marks that I had done on my own. I brought my hand up, nicked my skin.

Lachlan grabbed my hand fast, “No.”

I yanked it out of his hold and gave him a pointed look. I touched my finger to my blood, then dabbed it on to the tiny holes my teeth had just made watching as the marks healed back to normal.

  Chapter Thirty-Five

“What the hell was that?” Lachlan asked as we merged back out into the streets. We got some funny looks as we left the club, clearly we were not the usual kind to go there.

My body was vibrating with energy and life once again. I wanted to dance, run, and party. I wanted to have fun, but the look on Lachlan’s face had my new buzz killed in a flash.

Jason squeezed my hand and kissed my forehead; he moved his lips down to my ear and whispered, “That was extremely hard to watch,” he paused as a small growl came out of his lips then added, “but sexy as hell at the same time.”

I pulled my head away and was grinning while my cheeks burned with embarrassment.

  “Trinity,” Lachlan demanded.

  “What?” I snapped.

  “What was that in there?”

I looked back and forth to everyone and we all shared the same look. Shock.

I shrugged, “I don’t know, I just knew that it would heal his wound, and remembering back to how confused I was with the marks, I didn’t want any of them to feel the same.”

I had put my blood on the other two bite marks as well.

“They were high Trinity, they wouldn’t have remembered. That ting flavour of their blood was the drugs they had taken,” Lachlan announced.

“OMG am I going to get high now?” Nikkee asked in a panic.

Lachlan rolled his eyes and sighed. He was doing that a lot lately, “No, Nikkee. You are not going to get high. But they are and they won’t remember. That is why I picked them; I could smell the drugs in their system from the door. I was surprised they were still awake,” he said more calmly.

“That was awesome,” Sky said, “Your blood heals people.”

I looked down at the spot I had nicked my skin that was now healed and disappeared. “I guess it does,” I said in a mechanical voice.

I thought back, but couldn’t really recall how I knew or why, more like it was just instinct.

“On a plus side, I didn’t kill anyone,” I announced.

Sab smiled, “You need to have more faith in yourself Trinity and your powers.”

“Ok, so now Trinity’s blood can heal bites. Let’s move on we have a job to do,” Lachlan snapped and walked off in front of us.

Nikkee, Sab and Sky caught up with him, while I hung back with Jason.

“What’s his problem?” I asked, not expecting Jason to know.

“It bothered him more than he wanted it to, seeing Nikkee feed I presume,” he smirked.

“And you’re happy about this?” I asked.

He shrugged, “Now he knows how I felt and he doesn’t want to admit it.”

I looked ahead and watched the four of them chatting while I held onto Jason’s hand.

“Is it going to have to be like this all the time?” I asked in a quiet voice.

  “Yes,” he answered quickly.

“I didn’t mind it,” I admitted, remembering the rush as the blood coursed into my mouth that now speed it’s was through my body.

“Really? Why the wrist?” he asked, looking straight ahead.

“What you couldn’t feel me?” I asked.

&
nbsp; “No!”

“Well, it felt… personal and I just didn’t want to feed from there,” I confessed.

  “Personal?” he asked.

“Yeah, like kissing. If Lachlan had asked me to kiss him I would have kissed his cheek not his lips. Personal,” I said, feeling a bit embarrassed.

I looked at him and he grinned letting me know that he appreciated my thought for his feelings.

We walked for a while until we made it to Club Criaturas da Noite. I hadn’t noticed the name last time. Clearly, it was meant to be posh and upper class. I looked down at what I was wearing. Last time we had been in fancy clothes upon Lachlan’s insistence, but now we just strolled on in, in regular Saturday night club hopper’s clothes.

“What does the club name say?” I asked as we past the security guards, both werewolves who gave Jason a nod.

“Creatures of the Night,” he answered

  “Fitting,” I observed.

There were not as many people as the time before, but the same get up. Posh and elaborate clothes whisked around as the monsters talked drinking with eyes gleaming at our entrance, and taking in our entire group.

“I will get us some drinks. Walk around and talk to a few people. You are basically royalty in their eyes,” he paused looking me up and down, “Even if you do not dress to their taste, but you do for mine so it doesn’t matter,” Jason finished with a smirk and walked off towards the bar.

I turned to Sab, “Are you picking up on anything?” I asked.

“Bits and pieces. There is energy here, but it is faint, maybe a few nights ago. It is the same pattern as at the police station. We are on the right path,” he assured me.

I gave a nod. “Ok, let’s walk and talk,” I said to Nikkee and Sky. Lachlan was already off talking to some vampires.

“What is up with Lachlan?” Nikkee asked in a hushed voice and we started weaving in between people making it look like we were on the hunt for a table.

“Jason said it probably bothered him watching you feed even though he had a go at Jason for not wanting me too,” I told her.
